Team PokerStars Pro have stormed the 42nd Annual World Series of Poker*, with Eugene Katchalov, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Jason Mercier, Andre Akkari and Maxim Lykov each winning a coveted WSOP bracelet. Representing Ukraine, France, USA, Brazil and Russia respectively, the Pros won a combined total of $2.38 million at this year’s series, winning tournaments across poker's core variants of Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Stud. The bracelet hoard started early on in the series with Ukrainian Eugene Katchalov winning event #5, $1,500 Seven Card Stud, for his first bracelet and $122,909 in prize money. Last year Katchalov set a WSOP record by reaching three final tables in events with $10,000 buy-ins. ElkY was next up, winning his first ever bracelet, taking down the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship event for a first prize of $331,639. ElkY secured one of the most coveted titles in poker, becoming the fourth player in history to win the Triple Crown of poker. Since landing at this year’s WSOP, ElkY has cashed a total of four times for more than $800,000 in winnings.
Next up was Jason Mercier, who bagged his second career bracelet taking down the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Six-Max event, which was good for $619,575. In the three years since he won EPT San Remo, Mercier has now cashed in 55 separate events, had 12 first places and racked up more than $6 million in winnings. Brazilian Team Pro Andre Akkari won a deserved first WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em. He topped a field of 2,857 players to take home the first prize of $675,117, his ninth WSOP cash and biggest score to date. This win takes his lifetime tournament winnings to nearly $1,000,000. Finally, Russian pro Maxim Lykov won the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event, defeating 2,644 players to win his first bracelet and $648,880. It’s been an impressive year for Lykov, who has won over $1.6 million, which includes $430,621 for a fourth place finish in the EPT San Remo Main Event.
