The PokerStars Women's Sunday was in full swing this week. It was Easter Sunday, a religious holiday for some, a children's chocolate playground for others. But for those who were able to sneak away from familial and traditional obligations for a few hours, it was Poker Sunday. The women who registered for this week's Women's Sunday tournament were among those who couldn't be kept from their computers by the Easter bunny. With a $7,000 guarantee, the $55 Women's Sunday is a money-making opportunity that players put on their weekly schedule. And with opportunities throughout the week to satellite in for a fraction of the cost - even no money at all with the Saturday free entry qualifier - there was no reason to miss out on the excitement. This week, despite the holiday observed by many, the numbers were solid and the guarantee was smashed once again: Total players: 193 One of the players' favorite features was in play again this week, as PokerStars Pros in the field carried $50 bounties on their virtual heads. Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree and Friend of PokerStars Charlotte Van Brabander were both registered for today's tournament. Boeree only survived until the one-hour mark when her A-K lost to the pocket queens of xx23xx, and the latter took home $50 for the knockout. Van Brabander, pictured below, ran longer in the tournament but ultimately exited in 54th place at the hands of Darena87, who picked up $50 when her pocket jacks won over the pocket eights of the bounty player.
AntiTop1 on top to start Only moments into Level 18, with blinds at 2,000/4,000 and a 400 ante, the final nine began play with the following chip counts: Seat 1: rebecca06 (70,590 in chips) The final table was off to an action-packed start, as ganatodoAA doubled through ^whiiiiite^ on the very first hand to jump into the chip lead. The second hand saw goosey15 move all-in preflop, olgi_b moved in over the top, and Solo Futte did the same but had both other players covered. Olgi_b was at risk with A?J?, goosey15 had Q?9?, and Solo Futte showed A?K?. The board came 8?4?Q?K?2?, and that left goosey15 out in ninth place with $183.35 and olgi_b out in eighth with $241.25. Both players won their seats into the tournament via the $5.50 Last Chance satellite earlier today, so this was solid profit for both women. Iaperle was short-stacked throughout much of the final table thus far, despite doubling through rebecca06. In a subsequent hand, when SpringSmile moved all-in preflop, iaperle called all-in with K?T?. SpringSmile showed 6?6?, and the pocket pair held up as the board revealed J?A?8?5?2?. That left iaperle out in seventh place with $337.75. It wasn't long before ^whiiiiite^ doubled through AntiTop1, but the latter came back to double through rebecca06. Shortly after the 3.5-hour break, AntiTop1 took a shot by moving all-in for a sizeable stack of 135,456 with 6?6?, and original raiser ganatodoAA called with Q?Q?. No miracles took place as the board produced J?9?4?5?4?, and that was the end of the tournament for AntiTop1, who finished in sixth place for a $434.25 payday. The very next hand saw Solo Futte push all-in with A?6?, but rebecca06 called with a dominating A?K? from the big blind. The board brought 5?5?4?Q?J?, and Solo Futte was out in fifth place with $559.70. Two hands later, SpringSmile moved her relatively small stack all-in with A?Q?, and it initially looked like a good double-up opportunity when ganatodoAA called from the big blind with A?J?. But when the dealer gave them Q?7?7?T?K?, that made a straight for ganatodoAA and eliminated SpringSmile in fourth place with $820.25. Soon after, it was ^whiiiiite^ who risked it all with A?3? against the A?Q? of rebecca06, and the better hand of the two only improved on the Q?J?7?5?2? board. That left ^whiiiiite^ out in third place, which was worth $1,090.45 in prize money. Too close to call as final match starts The last two players standing both had solid chips stacks, and it was truly anyone's tournament at that point: Seat 1: rebecca06 (220,603 in chips) Rebecca06 quickly took the lead in the match, playing aggressive poker and putting her opponent to the test. But the following hand turned the tables entirely: GanatodoAA was in control at that point, and she moved all-in on the very next hand to challenge the newly short-stacked rebecca06. Rebecca06 did make the call for her last 52,074 chips holding J?T?, and ganatodoAA showed K?8?. The flop of Q?K?8? gave ganatodoAA two pair, and though the 3? on the turn was irrelevant, the 8? on the river only completed the full house. Rebecca06 accepted $1,447.50 for second place. GanatodoAA completed the tournament in first place and won $1,973.53 for the effort. Congratulations!
