Tracking open events, 2010 may indeed end up as the “Year of the Women” in tournament poker. After a very successful showing in open tournaments thus far this year, the ladies are looking to continue their early-season success by doing well at this year’s World Series of Poker. With 21-year-old Annette Obrestad, (the inaugural winner of WSOP Europe in 2007) set to make her Las Vegas WSOP debut, the focus on the females has never been greater. Vanessa Selbst was the last woman to win a WSOP open event, in 2008, when she captured Event #19, the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha tournament and its $227,933 first place prize.
If the women remain hot in 2010, here are some key results from the 40-year history of the WSOP involving females in open events. Here are the career WSOP record-holders in OPEN bracelets, cashes and earnings. TOP 10 WSOP WOMEN MONEY EARNERS WOMEN WITH AT LEAST 10 WSOP CASHES
